Scrap Metal 6 Review and A Complete Guide

Scrap Metal 6 is a 3D car driving game featuring fast racing action and creative construction elements, with Grand Turismo-esque vehicles for you to explore in an open world environment.

Ultimate Test on Roadss

Put these cars to the ultimate test on roads, plains and hilly terrain! This game also includes dynamic obstacles and challenges as well as fans that players can interact with directly.

Features

Scrap Metal 6 is an exciting racing game where you take control of different cars to compete against dynamic obstacles and challenges. The game provides an unrivalled combination of high-speed racing action with creative sandbox elements for an engaging gaming experience for new and veteran players alike.

Place in an Imagination World

The game’s story takes place in an imaginative world called “Junkyard”, home to all the cars and weapons you will use during gameplay. Your initial vehicle is a small buggy equipped with a submachine gun. As you progress through various single-player challenges, faster and more powerful vehicles become available to you.

Game’s Most Unique Qualities

One of the game’s most unique aspects is the ability to create custom race tracks and perform stunts on them, creating ramps, humps and other obstacles to challenge yourself and your friends. There’s even an on-demand feature allowing you to alter its layout at any time! Furthermore, using its map editor, additional objects or fans can be placed onto any race track for added excitement!

Metal’s Wide Array of Weapons

Scrap Metal’s appeal lies in its wide array of weapons. Unlike modern racing games, Scrap Metal features vans with rocket launchers and muscle cars equipped with four machine guns – each offering their own set of advantages over opponents in each race. Furthermore, you can unlock new vehicles and upgrades that improve speed, grip, armor rating and firepower ratings to further boost your odds at victory!

The Pitfalls of Scrap Metal

Scrap Metal has some notable flaws that prevent it from being the best game in its category. Although its gameplay is fast-paced and enjoyable, at times the vehicle feel too light after crashes; some weapons (grenade launchers and chainsaws) lack power; its garage can only fit four vehicles at one time which makes upgrading existing vehicles cumbersome and inconvenient.

Gameplay

Scrap Metal is an infuriating top-down racer packed with firepower. Although its controls are intuitive and straightforward, learning them takes some practice – and is often frustrating as its lack of basic features (such as more forgiving systems or vehicles that don’t explode upon contact with another object) prevents it from providing all the thrills promised.

 Important for XBLA Games

As is typical for XBLA games, the campaign mode may be limited but online modes provide ample opportunity for multiplayer fun once missions have been completed. Exploring destructible environments is also great fun while different vehicle types should please car combat enthusiasts looking for something fresh.

Its Online Features

Apart from its online features, the game also boasts single-player missions and a challenging boss mode, mini games and the option to customize cars with various paint jobs and accessories.

A Garage Adjacent

As its title suggests, this game starts in a garage adjoining a junkyard and your ride emerges from there. A small beaten up buggy equipped with submachine gun makes for the ideal starter vehicle and once you collect scrap metal by wrecking enemy cars you can upgrade into a more powerful ride.

Beautifully Modeled and Animated

All the vehicles in this game are beautifully modeled and animated, featuring impressive detail as well as eye-catching light/shadow effects. Sound effects are also impressively realistic; although its soundtrack may be rather sparse for such a massive title, it fits the genre seamlessly.

An XBLA Entry

Overall, Scrap Metal is an enjoyable XBLA entry that provides plenty of gameplay and enjoyment. With its simple controls and diverse roster of vehicles, arcade racing fans should find this title enjoyable; its online component offers another reason to come back after you complete campaigns. Perhaps with a few more additions it could become one of XBLA’s physics-defying sensations; unfortunately for now its flaws make the game less than ideal value for its asking price.

Graphics

Scrap Metal, a top-down racer/car combat game from Slick Entertainment that dates back to 2008’s stylish platformer N+, features weapon-laden vehicles colliding with each other at breakneck speeds and massive explosions. We had the chance to play this gritty 3D experience on an Xbox 360 standard console; however, developers also provide 3D glasses (you’ll need some old school cardboard rims with one blue and one red lens in order to play 3D mode).

Scrap Metal’s Provocative

Scrap Metal’s outrageous setting transports us back in time, though its fast-paced gameplay may not offer as many content-rich racers we’ve seen recently. That being said, its selection of cars includes muscle cars with four machine guns and hover cars equipped with twin flamethrowers; not to mention its impressive selection of weapons and power-ups!

Metal Multiplayer Modes

Scrap Metal offers multiple multiplayer modes in addition to its single-player campaign. Race against friends locally or via Xbox Live; up to eight players can compete simultaneously! You can even customize the in-game controls according to your driving style by turning assist features on or off, adjusting TCS, ABS, and ESP settings and customizing in-game controls as desired.

Car Models and Tracks

Graphically, Scrap Metal is solid – car models and tracks feature great levels of detail; explosions and weapon effects look terrific; gameplay runs smoothly even when destroying multiple cars at the same time; however, one major drawback lies with its use of 2D art for characters and bosses which seems plagiarised from cheap shovelware.

An Exciting Way to Enjoy Life

Scrap Metal is an engaging and entertaining way to while away the hours. While not quite up to par with classic car-combat games of 20 years ago, its 1,200 Microsoft Point price tag may seem steep but there’s still plenty of tyre-squealing pleasure available here despite cheesy cartoon graphics and rock music that may grate on some players over time – they don’t detract from its fast, enjoyable action though.

Soundtrack

Scrap Metal is an open world driving game in which players take control of various supercars. The graphics and sound design perfectly fit its genre; its soundtrack may be repetitive at times but nonetheless complements gameplay perfectly; sound effects range from engine roars to weapons clanks for an unforgettable driving experience.

Game Simple and Intuitive

The controls in this game are straightforward and intuitive, featuring just two buttons to operate your car: gas and brake. Although at first it may feel disorienting, practicing is key for mastering this top-down perspective game! Furthermore, multiple camera modes provide options that fit your personal preferences best.

Metal Stand Out from Other Racing

Scrap Metal stands out from other racing games by giving you the ability to arm yourself against enemies with various weapons. Choose from rocket launchers, machine guns, shotguns and more as powerups that can be deployed as you drive or during combat. In addition to guns you’ll collect health packs and nitro, which will increase speed.

Realistic Car Stunt Action

Scrap Metal offers realistic car stunt action with beautiful cars and explosions that feel real, although occasionally the cars lag. Overall, Scrap Metal provides hours of enjoyable car stunt fun!

Scrap Metal Series So Popular

This fourth installment in the popular Scrap Metal series provides many upgrades over its predecessors. Graphics have been greatly enhanced and there’s now an expanded selection of cars available for you to drive. Furthermore, you can now create maps from scratch by adding obstacles and bridges – an excellent option for fans of the original game!

Conclusion

Cartoon Mini Racing features gorgeous Lamborghinis racing around cartoon tracks. If you prefer more realistic driving experiences, Evo City Driving allows you to test drive eight supercar replicas in real city streets!
